Well this is my first story, and I wrote pretty much all that I have done last year during study hall, but I felt like posting it so here it goes.
This is how it all happened. I was chilling in my apartment playing video games, like I always did when I had nothing to do and it didn't seem to be helping any. So I decided to call up my only friend I kept after those 4 years of hell, also known as "Highschool". Well when no one pick up after the fourth time of calling his house, well more like his parents house. I decide to call his cell phone. He always had that thing with him, even in the shower, but wasn't the best at answering the thing. It rang a few times and I heard it pick up, and I was expecting to hear his deep characteristic voice; well instead of his voice, it was his mom's and it sounded very shaken and what she said almost made me drop dead right there. She said, "Tom. . . . Alfred is in the emergency room, something happened toh im and we have no clue what but the doctors are saying he probably won't make it. ."
Right after she said that, I droped the phone ran and got into my 1968 mustang fastback, it had taken a lot of money but it was worth it for that car. And I sped to the hospital to see my old friend, and maybe for the last time.
When I got there I started to run to see if I could find him but, I didn't have to go far. His mom, Meghan, was sitting in the waiting room and told me that Alfred wouldn't be out of surgery for at least a couple more hours. And then she told me that he had gotten into a car accident and that he had these strange marks all over.
All I could do was sit there freaking out that my best and only friend was going to die on me. I was just wishing my wife could be here with me, but she was at a business meeting in New York.
Well it'd been 3 hours and we still haven't heard anything from the doctors about how the surgery was going on Alfred. I was about to go up to the nurses desk to if there was any news on Alfred, what I've been doing every 15 minutes without really realizing it, but before I could get a single word out of my mouth a doctor came bursting through the Emergency room doors huffing and puffing. He ran over and was trying to talk but the doctor was out of breath. So I told him to take a breather, and then try and talk. So he sat down on those awefully uncomfortable hospital chairs. It was about 5 minutes before he could catch his breath, he was one of the husky types so that explained why.
"Your son. . . he had passed away and we were coming to announce the time of death to you, when all of a sudden he started gurgling and coughing up blood. . . I sent one of my nurses to go see what was happening to him. . ." then the doctor started shaking feircly, so Meghan tried calming the doctor as well as she could.
After a few minutes of calming him down he continued with what he was saying, "Well when I sent my nurse over to examine him she bent over and at that very moment your son threw his arms up and snaped her neck. . ." He then puased for a second, looked at his arm and I noticed that he had scratch marks all over them, and the doctor wasn't making the any better because he was scratching at them sparadicly. I then noticed he was getting really gittery and that his pupils were extremly dialated. He put his head in his hand. I asked, "What is the matter doctor?" At that very moment he jumped out of the char he had been sitting in, pushed Meghan and I out of his what and ran for the exit but tripped and his head crashed through the glass door. The doctor was still sparadic and tryed to push himself up but he was bleeding rapidly from his neck andjust collapsed back down on the glass. Meghan let ouf a loud shriek. I though I had scared the doctor when I put an arm on his shoulder to ask what was wrong, but I realized that some hospital alarm had started and that must have been what made the doctor freak out.
"I really think we should be getting out of here." Alfreds mom said very nervously and I agreed. And I figured with everyone evacuating the building I might be able to learn someone about what all happened in there. But first we had to find another way out becuase the doctor had boken the main doors and a metal door had slammed down in between the set of glass doors. I was thinking damn hospitals with their fucking security proticals.
Well I started to guide Alferd's Mom to find another exit. When we turned to go down the hallway I noticed metal slides covering the windows and I realized if we don't get out of here soon we'll be trapped in here, and who the hell knows what'll happen then, and I don't exactly want to find out.
"Meghan, we really need to hurry up, or we might get stuck in here. ." I said.
"I can't walk any faster my hip is killing me." She said. And at that I remembered that she just had a hip replacement a few months ago.
"Well please just try. I think I see an exit sign up ahead" she nodded wih approval, she seemed to tired to talk. I was about to open door, my heart lightened because I could see outside through the glass pannel on the door, but when I tryed to open the door it was locked.
